Meta Open Arts
Paper cutaway installation
January 2023
This paper cut installation was created for Meta Open Arts in the new Meta offices in Bellevue, Washington. It's about 325 square feet of hand-cut paper (38.5 x 8.5 feet) and watercolor inspired by historical images of Japanese Americans from the Densho digital archives and honoring farmers of Japanese descent who used to (before WWII) cultivate the land where the new Meta offices now stand.
A single golden thread made of paper connects the 11 panels of cut paper referencing the ancient Japanese art of "Kintsugi" or "golden joinery."
